Nursery

Purpose of the Preschool Ministry

The purpose of the preschool ministry is to provide a caring, secure and safe environment for preschoolers-birth through Kindergarten during church services so that parents may feel free to receive and be ministered to from the Lord.  The preschool department will care for the children's physical needs and also minister to them spiritually by helping them learn God's love and care while they are separated from their parents.

Goals of the preschool ministry

  • Encourage the child's development of a loving relationship with Jesus Christ
  • Promote communication and understanding between parents and teachers
  • Encourage active participation by parents in the worship, instruction, fellowship and evangelism efforts of Lockhart Baptist Church.
  • To enlist cooperation on the part of the entire church to continually improve the program for the preschool children.

Our goal at Lockhart is to care for your child's physical needs while helping them learn of God's great love for them.  Truly they are God's precious possessions!

Safety is our number one concern for your child so we have some special procedures in place for them.

  1. Your child will be cared for by trained members of Lockhart who volunteer to serve you in Jesus' name because they care about you and they love God's children.  We also have a staff of paid members who have had a background check and CPR certified to serve your needs.
  2. For the safety of the children, the preschool is separated into four areas-Babies, Toddlers, Two and Three year olds, four and five year olds.
  3. Activities for babies and toddlers are designed to bring high attention to the child's physical needs.  Your child will be changed, fed and comforted.  This will be complemented by interactive play and learning.
  4. Preschoolers will have a snack time, made to feel welcome, and invited to be part of our song and story time and to be part of an activity.  Some of our most popular activities include coloring and simple craft projects.  Your child will also have the opportunity to use our age appropriate collection of toys.
